2014 marked one of the most successful years for food bloggers, and with so many great ones, over the next few weeks I want to let you in on some of my favorites. The great thing about a blog is how personal it feels. If you read the posts instead of just scrolling down to the bottom to get to the recipe, you will find that most have a rich history or funny story to go along with it, and even better, awesome hints and tips to make it come out perfect every time. It almost feels like an old friend giving you a treasured family recipe.

The Vanilla Bean Blog is written by a self-taught baker named Sarah. She wanted to find a way to incorporate family recipes and create her own "concrete food heritage," as she puts it on her blog. Over the years, she has become one of the top baking and desert blogs, and just won the 2014 Readers Choice Award for Best Baking and Desert Blogs from Savuer. Her posts are filled with funny stories, and pictures of her adorable kids, making you feel like an old friend. Her hilarious stories of how many mistakes it took her to create the perfect recipe, makes you feel like you can conquer anything (despite how beautiful and intimidating her pictures can be). I would recommend this blog to anyone because it's simple to read, easy to follow, and the results are amazing. The Vanilla Bean Blog just illustrates how a simple quest to create family history, can turn you into a highly respected writer and chef. Below are some pictures curtsey of her awesome blog, if you see something you like, simply click on the photo and you will be taken to the recipe. I hope you all check it out and love it just as much as I do!
