This past weekend, I woke up to the most perfect Tallahassee Saturday. The weather was in the 70's, the sun was out and shining, and most importantly, I had the day off from work! So my friends and I decided it was the perfect day for one of my favorite places in the world, the Pumpkin Patch! We went to a local Tallahassee Pumpkin Patch located at 2200 N Meridian Road, and I would advise everyone to check it out! It is absolutely adorable, the workers are very friendly, and it is the perfect place for a nice family photo, or just for a photo shoot with your friends and some pumpkins (like about 99.9% of the FSU student population does).
Now, the perfect fall afternoon wouldn't be complete without ice cream, and in Tallahassee there is a quaint spot called Lake Ella Park. Lake Ella Park is a beautiful lake surrounded with trees, benches, and a few local cafes and shops. I am a big fan of both places I have tried, Big Easy Snowballs and Barb's Southern Style Gourmet Brittles. I first tried Big Easy Snowballs this past summer. I am no huge fan of snow cones, but these are NOT SNOW CONES (which they make very clear when you walk in the door). Snowballs are a New Orleans original that we get just in the heart of Midtown. They have over 75 different flavors, like kings cake and cookie dough, and you are free to mix as many as you want. If you want it to be even more mouthwatering you can get it stuffed with vanilla ice cream! HEAVEN! My roommate Natalie decided to try a snowball for the first time while me and my other friends tried Barb's Brittles. When you walk in you see candies, brittles, chocolates, and my favorite, homemade brittle ice cream. When I talked to the owner Barb, she told me that making ice cream started out as a hobby until she realized the lack of homemade ice cream in Tallahassee. Barb is one of the friendliest people I have ever met, you can tell how much she loves her shop and how much she wants you to enjoy her product. I got the Virginilla (virgin of course because it has no nuts, which I thought was hilarious) and it was amazing! There were tons of cool flavors like pumpkin, red velvet cake, and sunflower! Me and my friend Sara got a chocolate chip brittle cookie for the top and it was delicious! So head on over to the pumpkin patch and make sure you stop at Lake Ella Park for a nice lunch, snowball, or ice cream!
